My Newest Obsession and a Pinterest Contest

Project Image

This post brought to you by Leggett & Platt. All opinions are 100% mine.

Two weeks ago I had the distinct pleasure of sneaking off for a last minute vacation, before baby bird flies the coop. If you were to ask me what I enjoyed most about this little trip it would easily be the fact that we had a king sized bed in our hotel room. You see, we are a family that not only plays together, but also happens to be co-sleeping currently, as well (I can thank my husband for that). With baby bird on the way, and my subsequent large profile, a squirmy preschooler, 2 small dogs and my husband all in one bed together... to say that our queen sized bed has become akin to a shared twin size is an understatement, and I for one am obsessing over the idea of upgrading to a King! In fact it's all I can think about at the moment.

But of course not just any king sized bed will do as I daydream the possibilities... I would love to have one of those dual adjustable beds so the hubster and I can each do our own thing! You see, I spend hours of my day in my bed as it stands, given the fact that I work from home (a.k.a. my bed) most days and being 9 months pregnant doesn't exactly make me want to get up and go, if you know what I mean. In fact I'm fairly certain that I want something big and plush and fluffy with an adjustable base for working during the day or sitting up with baby during the wee hours of the night! This seems like the ultimate luxury to me, and I want it more than any other possible piece of furniture for my home or technological gadget I can think of!

Leggett & Platt makes just such a product that would allow me to make any bed raise and lower as I please, and my dreamy King sized mattress can magically transform into the upright position I need for working or reading comfortably and then I can lower that baby back down for sleeping! Yahoo!

A little info...

"With today’s busy lifestyles, the master suite has transitioned into a space to unwind and relax; a haven. Over 70 percent of consumers have Internet access in their bedroom and most watch TV or read emails before sleep. This trend has homeowners and designers rethinking the use of a bed for just sleeping.

There’s no need to sacrifice style and a high-end look for premium comfort. The Leggett & Platt Designer Series offers customized comfort for reading, TV viewing, surfing the web and working then, with the push of a button, glides into your favorite position for sleeping. Choose from four on-trend colors and headboard styles to create a personalized, tranquil retreat."

Aren't you dying for one of these babies?

Well if so, you guys are in luck, because there are still a few days left to enter the Pinterest Contest and win one of these beauties for yourselves! Can I get a yahoo?

Here are the deets:

Choosing the Right Flooring and The Art of Compromise

Project Image

From grey painted wood floors to grey laminate flooring and tile, there is something of a perfect compromise in the gorgeousness that is a gray floor! We spoke earlier in the month about the dreamy and ethereal quality of white floors and while I absolutely adore the look, I'm fairly certain the responsibility is more than I can bear. But gray... oh j'adore gray... and as far as the amount of work a gray floor might require, I see it as being the perfect choice and a wonderful compromise from all directions. Not too light as to show all of the spills and footprints while not to dark as to show every dog hair and speck of dust within a mile. In a word...perfection!

I'm excited to announce my partnership with BestLaminate as an official blogger, and today's topic is all about grey flooring and the art of compromise that it presents! Perhaps one of the more perfect flooring options out there, and of course it fits perfectly within the reclaimed love fest happening in blogland and beyond today!

Roundup: All Floored in White

Project Image

From painted white wood floors to white laminate or tile, there is something light and airy about the mood a white floor creates in a room.... but can you handle the responsibility that most likely comes with the territory? I can say for certain that while I adore the look, I simply can't hang with the upkeep. But trust me when I say I occasionally count the days till I will be kid free, just so that I might have white floors and white slipcovered sofas!

I'm excited to announce my partnership with BestLaminate as an official blogger, and today's topic is all about the white flooring droolfest I am about to share with you! Sit back and buckle up folks, this article is about to get crazy!

Guest Post: Design Bunk

Project Image

Guest Post: Not 'bunk' as in nonsense but 'bunk' as in bunk beds. The cost of moving has never been more prohibitive for many of us. More and more of us are looking for new and more thoughtful ways to economize and make the most of the space we already have in our homes. Kids bunk beds happen to be a great way to maximize space. So, let's take a look at a few of them and consider how they might work at your house. This one combines a twin on the top level and a futon below Certainly this is a simple, basic, and flexible design.

Some might find this set frustratingly banal, but we find the classicism of its wood design intriguing. Certainly it's a masculine look that will appeal to somewhat older boys, who tend to be suspicious of too much color or filigree. It's just kind of basic, simple, and well constructed and we cannot think of anything at all bad to say about that. The next example could easily be described as the flip-side of this when it comes to bunk beds.

Even without the obvious pink coloring, this is as feminine a design as the prior example was masculine. What's wrong with that? Some may scoff, but what's the point of having small children and buying them cool bunk beds if we can't indulge our love for the school of design best embodied by 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' and 'SpongeBob SquarePants'? This is just fun and while kids, boys especially, may tend to grow out of something like this fairly early, and probably well before they reach middle school, it's just kind of irresistible.

If our last example was "Princess and The Pea" this would be more "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke." While those TV staples might be all but forgotten, interest in westerns continues. Giddy-up
